Members’ Meeting
Our governing rules of operation are set out in WWT’s articles of association, last amended in December 2008.
Since then, Council members have considered suggestions by members and we are now proposing a few minor alterations. The meeting to consider these will be held on Thursday 21 October at the Castle Espie Wetland Centre at 10.00am.
All members over the age of 18 can vote, but members can also use a proxy form to cast their vote without attending the meeting themselves.
The proposed changes are:
- Ex-employees will be eligible for election to Council after a period of 5 years has elapsed since the employment ended; currently they are ineligible for life.
- Members will be able to nominate one person for each vacancy on Council, rather than one person in total at each election.
- Only the Finance & General Purposes and Remuneration Committees will need a minimum of 50% Council members; currently this applies to all committees.
- Following Lady Scott’s death, the Honorary Director position will be abolished; thereby keeping it as a position that was unique to Lady Scott.
The formal notice of this meeting, the proxy form and the proposed articles (showing all the changes) are provided in the (PDF) links below.
Council members hope that you will support these changes and we look forward to seeing you at the meeting or receiving your proxy voting form.
