During my teaching career I took two classes of infant children to Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust centres. My husband and I had met Sir Peter Scott at an AGM at Slimbridge and I told him that a visit from my class was imminent. He was so interested and we had a good chat - she was such a gentle and caring man.
After our visit the children sent pictures and letters of thanks, and we were all thrilled to receive a personal letter from Sir Peter, saying how much they appreciated our interest and enthusiasm. I am sure those I took there will never forget their wonderful day at Slimbridge in glorious sunshine and with close encounters with so many beautiful birds.
