Imagine if ducks went on holiday. Where would they go? What would they do? Close Encounters is a Key Stage 1 programme begun at school and includes a visit to a WWT centre.

Pre visit a rhyming action story introduces children to a Mallard family who are looking for a holiday destination. When they visit their local centre the children play the role of holiday investigators and undertake lots of sensory activities and collect souvenirs to entice the Mallard Family to choose this as their holiday destination. Back at school the programme offers follow up work to complete the story.

Please note: Due to high demand, at London Wetland Centre, Close Encounters will be a 50 minute session. Self guided activities can be provided for teachers to extend the session themselves.
