Another quality day out birding on the reserve. If you are sensibly wrapped up you should be able to tot up over 50 species in a full day at the moment.

A single Beweick's Swan was seen from the Ron Barker Hide around midday.

The Grey Phalarope is still attracting many visitors and showed throughout the day mostly on Vinson's Marsh from the Ron Barker Hide. Quiet on the wader front with 600+ Lapwing and 20+ Ruff, with most of the latter feeding on distant flooded fields.

No shortage of raptors with at least 4 Marsh Harrier, 2 adult Peregrine, 2+ Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel and Sparrowhawk. A Barn Owl was out briefly this morning. Two Raven were also doing some raptor mobbing, giving a chance to see that they have a similar wingspan to that of the harriers.

Treecreeper showed well from the Janet Kear Hide, Goldcrests near Kingfisher Hide and Kingfisher and Grey Wagtail this morning from Ron Barker Hide.

Around 2000 Pink-footed Geese this afternoon, no reports of European White-fronts, thou 20+ Barnacle Geese were present. We might expect the next reports of White-fronts to be that of the Greenland variety as colder weather push down from the North.
