An update on Wizzy the beaver
I often get asked when I walk around how Wizzy our young beaver is that we have hand reared.
The answer is that he is doing very well. He is still in his own area that isn't accessible for visitors, but he is growing nicely. At the moment he is often staying inside all day in his swanky lodge that he has created from mud, straw, wood and bark. During the warmer period the other week though he was out and about during the day playing with his current favourite toy - a large log. We managed to get some video footage and the link is below to watch it. He still enjoys a lot of company and the wardens groom him on a regular basis. He has recently had a new edition to his pond - what the warden Alex playfully calls his 'jacuzzi', where bubbles blow out through the bottom of the pond to stop it freezing.
