So much easier to count when the numbers drop away. Pretty much the last of the Whoopers with just 33 birds. In recent years we have had around 4 or 5 injured birds that over summer.

Sixty six Avocet this morning and 40+ Ruff.

Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps singing around the reserve. Treecreeper and Goldcrest singing too. Yesterday a Cetti's Warbler was heard near the Cattybank.

Two Marsh Harrier hunting throughout the day, 4+ Common Buzzard and a Sparrowhawk took a Snipe. Barn Owl early this morning on the Reed Bed Walk.

Although chilly at night the moth trap has been pulling in a few species including this Early Thorn - Selenia dentaria
