No surprises to see that recent counts put waterfowl numbers at the lowest since the beginning of the autumn migration. Thirty six Whooper Swan, 132 Teal, 128 Wigeon, 6 Pochard, 10 Tufted, 8 Gadwall, 4 Pintail, 200+ Mallard and 100+ Shelduck. No counts of Pink-footed Geese but numbers will be around through April.

Waders on the reserve included 68 Avocet, 8 Ringed Plover, 10 Redshank, 30+ Ruff, 30+ Black-tailed Godwit, 150+ Lapwing and 10+ Common Snipe.

Three Marsh Harrier on and off throughout the day. At least 4 Common Buzzard.

Corn Buntings singing, heard from the Red Bed Walk. Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps in song too.

Linnets are more obvious as we move into April and are seen regularly from the Ron Barker Hide.
