The aftermath of the heavy rain

It was quite literally all hands on deck on Friday as we had to prepare the site for continual torrential rain. We had to turn some pumps off, turn others on and keep a very close eye on the water build up in both the grounds and the reserve. The reserve was like a winter scene with the high water levels but we managed to cope and everything is back to normal today. Our pumps network is so detailed, I am just glad our staff know them inside out to know precisely what to do in these situations.

We continued with our beaver evening event on Friday which went well, ironically, the beavers lodge had become flooded and they were visible from 5pm onwards, but it is always the days when we have no visitors!

We have had no word on the Marsh harrier chicks as of late although they were hunting on Saturday so we can only hope that it was to feed their young. As soon as we know anything further I will let you know.
