Caerlaverock ospreys still in the area

On Monday we watched an osprey eating a fish on a large log washed up by the tide on the edge of Saltcot merse. Sadly it was too far away to see if it was one of our pair. Recently they have been seen in the area of the nest and have been bringing in sticks to the top of a tree only 30 meteres from the nest in an attempt at what looks like a frustration nest. This is seen as pair bonding behaviour and although far too late for any second breeding attempt it looks like this new pair are becoming established. All boding well for next summer.
