New November Night Vision event at WWT Arundel

WhatAstronomy happens in the wetlands after dark? During November Night Vision at WWT Arundel Wetland Centre you can scan the night skies and watch wildlife under cover of darkness. On Thursday 14 November WWT Arundel combines an astronomy evening with an opportunity to watch wildlife with night vision equipment from Viewpoint Optics.

Neil Phillips of Astronomia telescopes introduces you to the November night sky with Stellarium computer software projections in the Sand Piper Theatre before leading outdoor viewing sessions with telescopes (weather permitting).  Then Viewpoint Optics provides night scopes and night monoculars to help you spot wildlife on areas of the reserve under cover of darkness.

Claire Drew, WWT Arundel Learning Manager said: “Visitors always ask us about the reserve after hours - now we are offering a unique way to view it.”

Only certain areas of the reserve will be open for night viewing of wildlife and visitors must be accompanied by WWT staff. The event costs £10 per person, which includes a hot drink to ward off the evening chill. Tickets must be booked in advance by calling WWT Arundel Wetland Centre on 01903 881530. Doors open at 5:45 pm and the event runs from 6 – 8 pm.
