Marsh Harrier

The juvenile Marsh Harrier continues to be seen around the site and can show well at times especially from the appropriately named Harrier Hide. The family of Kestrels are still around along with occasional sightings of Sparrowhawk and the usual Common Buzzards.

A Barn owl was seen from Ron Barker Hide in the morning, also from here were several Linnet, Avocet, Ruff, Black tailed Godwit and 5 Dunlin. Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler and Whitethroat can still be heard singing around the reserve.

A good time of year for Dragonflies and several species can be seen regularly, including the largest British species the Emperor Dragonfly seen over the last few days on site along with Brown Hawker, Southern Hawker, Four spotted Chaser, Black tailed Skimmer and some of the smaller Damselflies such as Common Blue and Blue tailed Damselfly.
