Magical animal experiences at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre

WWEagle Owl at Martin Mere Animal magicT Martin Mere Wetland Centre is flying open it’s doors on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September for the annual wildlife spectacular: Animal Magic.

Animal Magic is the centres most popular family event, with over 4000 people attending last year. Hug a greyhound, cuddle a skunk, watch meerkats, Asian short-clawed otters and alpacas play, get close to a variety of birds of prey or be scared by lots of reptiles and insects. New in 2014: Sealife Centre will be at the event with an interactive rock pool bringing sea creatures to touch and learn about. Most of the displays will be indoors so whatever the weather you are guaranteed a great day out.

Centre Manager, Nick Brooks, said: “‘Animal Magic is our most popular family event at the centre. We always try to do events at the Centre that provide a fantastic opportunity for our visitors to experience something new; where you can get very close to or stroke animals such as greyhounds, skunks and meerkats at one event; you can see all kinds of animals you probably wouldn’t come across in your day to day life and it is amazing to see so many children enjoy the experience.’

To help you plan your day...

  • Have a go at free pond dipping at the Pond House to see what creatures you can see in the ponds.  There will also be a range of family craft activities for children between 11am and 4pm including face painting, some may include a small charge.
