As part of the Great Outdoors Weekend Beginners Birdwatch sessions led by Dot Blakely we can report the following sightings:

Viewed from the Brent Hide:

1200 Brent Geese

12 Shelduck

Small scattering of Oystercatchers and Curlew between Limekiln and the Brent Hide as we wait for the numbers to increase.

4 Little Egrets on view from the Limekiln Observatory.

400 Brent spotted from the Limekiln Observatory to the south side with a small number of oystercatchers and curlew as the tide was coming in.

Through the woodlands where the sun was hitting the tops of the trees, there were good numbers of Goldfinch, Great Tits, Blue Tits and Cole Tits feeding through the trees.

Sighting of the day was one wee Goldcrest feeding in the pine trees oblivious to everyone watching it.

The Robins are now moving to their winter territory and can be heard singing to signal the establishment of their winter territory.

In the woodlands there are large amounts of little egret splatterings indicating that the Little Egrets are roosting at night in the woodlands. As eleven plus Little Egrets have been noticed lately we anticipate that they are using our trees to roost.

A Peregrine Falcon was also spotted today on the edge of the reserve.
