Waders and Geese

The Pectoral Sandpiper from yesterday was seen again today on Vinson's from Ron barker Hide, also now 7 juvenile Curlew Sandpiper, 1 Little Stint, 2 Dunlin, 7 Golden Plover, 600+ Lapwing, 1 Greenshank, several Black tailed Godwit, 30+ Common Snipe and 71 Ruff.

A count of 700 Pink footed Geese this morning, increasing everyday at the moment. Also large numbers of feral Greylag Geese and Canada Geese in the area. Wigeon, Teal, Mallard and Pintail all on the reserve along with a good count of over 100 Gadwall recently.

The last few days a steady trickle of Hirundines have been noticeable heading south over the reserve, mainly Swallows but small numbers of Sand Martin and House Martins among them.

The wing tagged Marsh Harrier from Tayside in Scotland is still with us, the same bird was at Leighton Moss recently.
