Without Measure -A promenade dance performance

Dance Troupe at Slimbridge, April 2014Without Measure an exciting new contemporary dance premieres at the end of October. Choreographed by Alex Howard, at its heart are the parallels between wildfowl migration and the movement of people.

Six dancers have been developing their awareness of the Slimbridge site for a year and, within a wider context of ensemble dancing, will perform individual solo pieces – each dancer has chosen a particular location on the Slimbridge site and is taking inspiration from a different species of bird.

The audience is able to move freely between the different locations during the performance. Open rehearsals at Slimbridge have led to some interesting interactions between dancers and the public  - and the birds.

The first public performances of ‘Without Measure’ will take place in late October - timed to coincide with the return of the Bewick’s swans from their summer in Arctic Russia – possibly making this a new Swan Lake for the 21st century?
