More Whoopers

Calm conditions and a shower free day and the sky was filled with geese and lapwings for most of the day. Small groups of Whooper Swan flying in bringing the total to 116 including this family of 2 adults and 4 juveniles.

Impressive numbers of geese from midday onwards with 20000+ birds in a single, flushed flock. A couple of Barnacle Geese also seen among the pinks.

Raptors doing the flushing included 3 Peregrine (2ad+juv), 4 Marsh Harrier, 10+ Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel and 2 Sparrowhawk.

More Lapwing than of late with 1000+ birds, 40+ Ruff and 20+ Common Snipe.

A Great White Egret dropped in briefly on Sunley's Marsh before heading off towards the Ribble. Kingfisher showing well from the Ron Barker Hide and on the Canoe Safari. Tawny Owl between the Janet Kear and United Utilities Hides.
