Todays sightings

The washes at the back of the reserve have started to take on the first flood water of the winter and are currently flooded to a shallow level.  This is providing birds like wigeon, shoveler, teal, pintail and gadwall with areas to go when birds of prey like marsh harriers and peregrines fly over the reserve.  The spits of land around this area are providing habitat for lapwing, golden plover, black-tailed godwits and other wading birds.
