Great white egret - 1 on Lady Fen

The reserve is looking fantastic today.  We had a brilliant sunrise over the Fens for our Swan's awake event this morning.  Over 800 whooper swans took to the skies between 7-9am.

Plenty of family groups of swans, even a pair with 6 cygnets in the main lagoon.  Some ringed swans are starting to get spotted too.  Yesterday we had yellow leg-ringed whooper swan FZ6 - Wimble at the 3.30pm swan feed, she is at least 16 years old.  This morning on the main lagoon we had yellow ringed U5D (ringed at Welney in 2008) with her mate and 3 cygnets.  As well as red ringed BLD - Swanhilde, ringed at Martin Mere in 2012.
