Latest Sightings

A chillier feel today with a few showers moving through. Five Avocet today are late migrants. It would be interesting to know where these birds have come in from? Other waders include 30+ Ruff, 800+ Lapwing 10+ Common Snipe and a probable Dunlin.

Yesterday's count produced 942 Whooper Swan (a good number for the beginning of November) and ~17,400 Pink-footed Geese. Sixty plus Shoveler on Woodend Marsh.

The usual raptors with 2 Marsh Harrier, 6+ Common Buzzard, Peregrine, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk.

Two Chiffchaff by the sewage works. It will be worth checking there for Siberian Chiffchaff from now on.

Kingfisher from the Ron Barker Hide. Some small flocks of Fieldfare (50+) moving through. Med Gull, an immature on the Mere late afternoon.

Worth noting that a Lesser Snow Goose (white morph) has been seen with Pink-footed Geese nearby on Downholland Moss.
