Recent Sightings
The 5 Avocet were still present yesterday but no sign today, but a single Dunlin was present. Still good numbers of Ruff with at least 50 being counted today. Good numbers of Pink-footed Geese still in the area with up to 17,000 roosting on the Mere overnight at the moment. Recent counts of Whooper Swans revealed 900+ birds, with many feeding out in local fields during the day with the bigger numbers arriving for feeding time mid afternoon.
Small flocks of Fieldfares continue to be seen in the area, with 60+ in trees on the edge of the reserve. Grey Wagtails are still on site with 2+ being seen, also still 3+ Stonechat from Ron Barker Hide along with Kingfisher.
