Arundel Wetland Centre wants you to Discover Birds through walks, talks and workshops about our feathered friends on Sunday 20 September.

Families will enjoy discovering how birds work at the ‘Beaks, Feathers and Feet’ workshop. In this hands on session children can try on duck feet, touch bird wings and see some strange bird beaks that adapted for ducky dining.  Lizzy Pearce says: “Children love to hold the birds made from cloth that we use in the workshop – they are the same size and weight as the real birds.”

Other activities for children include using quill pens made from feathers, making brass rubbings of birds and pond dipping for creature that ducks like to dine on.

Pat Warren from the WWT Arundel media team will share how they capture their wildlife video footage at a talk in the Sandpiper theatre. “Everyone always asks where can I find a kingfisher? I have a lot of suggestions and some great footage from around the reserve.”

WWT Warden Samantha Halpin will lead visitors on a tour of rare and endangered species in the captive collection at WWT Arundel Wetland Centre. Plant expert Sheila Stenning will show visitors through the wildlife garden with advice on how to garden to help birds.

All Discover Birds Day activities are included in  the admission price to  Arundel Wetland Centre.
