Today's sightings

The Greater Scaup was on the Rushy Pen from 0815-0900 at least when it moved back to the Big Pen (among Tufted Ducks and collection Eiders). It was present on the Rushy Pen at 4pm yesterday. At least 72 Bewick's Swans present this morning.

Holden Tower

Merlin- 0830-0850hrs, a male hunting pipits from the tide deposited logs and branches.

Also on the saltmarsh- 1000+ Lapwing, 500+ Golden Plover, 200+ Dunlin and 2 Little Stint. Canada, Barnacle and Greylag Geese were joined by 67 feeding Shelduck and 35 roosting Great Black-backed Gulls.

Tack Piece

A flock of 350 Wigeon and 250 Teal on the scrape, 2 Cranes and a flock of Greylag and Canada Geese on the field. 33 Shoveler feeding adjacent to the Robbie Garnett Hide.

Zeiss Hide

Teal (700) and Wigeon (360) mostly sheltering from the winds, the Black-tailed godwit flock moves between the roost here and the Bottom New piece where they often feed.
Pintail (35) on the floods.

Kingfisher Hide

The Bar-tailed Godwit was among the Curlew, a large flock of the usual goose species contained 34 E. White-fronted Geese and Mallard and Wigeon.

South Lake

Teal (200) mostly in the sheltered duck marsh area, viewed from Hogarth Hide. 7 Comorant and 2 Pochard on a rather quiet deep lake, due to the winds.
