Recent sightings - 25th April
The following sightings were recorded today by Toni Castello, warden, at low tide.
Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre
Mallard 200, Tufted duck 15, Black-headed gull 250, Greylag 2, Little egret 3, Lesser black-backed gull 2.
Freshwater lagoon – visible from Brent Hide and Crannog
Tufted duck 10, Black-headed gull 220, Mute swan 2 (nesting; the number of eggs has raised again from 5 to 7 during the weekend! The female must be very fit!).
Saline Lagoon
Black-headed gull 60, Little egret 1.
Estuary – visible from Brent hide and Limekiln observatory
Black-headed gull +150, Oystercatcher +100, Brent geese 30, Shelduck 3, Lesser black-backed gull 4.
