Come along to WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre next week for a special, bugtastic week of fun as part of celebrations taking place nationwide for National Insect Week which runs from 20 – 26 June.

For toddlers who love insects join our “bugs and buggies” session on 23 June from 1pm – 2pm and let your little ones explore the variety of creepy crawlies we have on offer. They’ll even get to make their own insect-themed souvenir to take home!

For adults (or interested children), book to attend our Dragonfly ID workshop and walk on Saturday 25 June from 1pm – 4pm for your chance to learn identification techniques and tips and build your knowledge of these fascinating insects (places must be booked in advance and cost £10 per adult/£5 per child).

Pamela Styles, Learning Manager at WWT Llanelli said, “This one-off session is perfect for beginners and will introduce you to our common native species of dragonflies and damselflies. You can put your new skills into action as you enjoy a guided session out on the reserve to spot dragonflies and damselflies along the water courses where they hunt and breed”.

National Insect Week (now in its seventh year) is coordinated by the Royal Entomological Society and will see scores of events across the UK. It is supported by more than 60 national partner organisations concerned about natural history, biodiversity and entomology, the study of insects.
