Reserve Update 26th October - water rail, whoopers and wigeon!

The water rail has once again re-appeared in the Peter Scott Trail underneath the bird feeder area.  Seen yesterday and again first thing this morning.  Another Whooper Swan family has turned up on the Whooper Pond with five cygnets just to confuse matters with Paisley and Renfrew.

Elsewhere on the reserve, Wigeon numbers have built up again on the Folly Pond.  Merlin, Hen Harrier and Peregrine have been frequenting the Merse with the Great Egret also seen first thing this morning.  Two Pintail are utilising the Flood Ground.  Goldcrest, Long-tailed Tits, Linnets and Redpoll have been down the Avenue and feeding on the seeds within our cover crop at Avenue Tower.......oh, and we still have a few Barnacle Geese around too!!
