Sightings

The Woodcock is still being seen but is difficult to find at times, also the male Brambling is still visiting the bird table at Janet Kear Hide.

A big increase in Avocet in recent days from 21 to 45 birds now present, also 100+ Oystercatcher, 6 Curlew, 1 Ringed Plover, 4 Dunlin, 60+ Ruff, 35+ Black-tailed Godwit, 2000+ Lapwing and small numbers of Snipe.

The Tawny Owl is still in the Ivy on the corner near Kingfisher Hide - call in to the In Focus shop for more detailed directions.

At least 1 Peregrine is being seen most days at the moment, also several Common Buzzard, 2+ Sparrowhawk and Kestrel.

Still a couple of Little Egrets around the reserve, also 50+ Cormorant on the Mere including some of the continental form Sinensis.

200+ Whooper Swan on the Mere plus lots of Mallard, Pintail, Wigeon and Teal.
