Woodcock and Brambling

The Woodcocks were seen again a few times today but are elusive and often only partly on view, also a Water Rail in the same area this morning. Another Water Rail was seen from Ron Barker Hide along with the Kingfisher and nearby the Tawny Owl was on almost full view in the Ivy covered trees on the corner near Kingfisher Hide.

The male Brambling continues to give good views from Janet Kear Hide on the left hand bird table, also a Wood Mouse was seen afew times on the log pile behind the bird table yesterday.

Also from Janet Kear a male Siskin was reported in the afternoon along with the usual good numbers of Reed Buntings and occasional Tree Sparrows. A male Bullfinch was seen along the Reedbed walk this morning as well as a Stoat with prey.

At least 1 Peregrine was seen today along with Buzzard, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk. A Raven was again seen over the distant fields along with a male Stonechat.

The Oystercatcher build up continues with 64 counted today, also still 60+ Ruff and c25+ Black-tailed Godwit and small numbers of Snipe. Good numbers of Lapwing with at least 2000 still around.

A male Goldeneye was on the Mere again as well as good numbers of Pintail, Wigeon, Teal, Mallard, 150 Whooper Swans and small numbers of Pink-footed Geese.
