The first signs of spring can be seen this week with willow catkins beginning to flower along the footpaths, sprays of coltsfoot around the ponds at the visitor centre and birds getting ready for breeding season.

Pochard and goldeneye can be observed doing their head-flipping displays, Cetti's warblers are in full song, great tits are collecting nesting materials, frogs can be seen in the ditches, skylarks are singing, lapwing, redshank, oystercatcher and avocet can be heard calling around the reserve.

**Don't forget, the centre and reserve are closed Mon 13 - Fri 17 March for improvements being made to the centre, but we re-open on Saturday 18 March, 9.30am - 5pm daily.**
