Recent Sightings - 19th June

The following sightings were recorded today from the reserve at Castle Espie. The weather has been good lately and many of the flowers in the meadow are coming into bloom and there is a good show of butterflies and damselflies recently.

Estuary - visible from the Brent Hide and the Limekiln Observatory

Oystercatcher 4, Black-headed Gull 20, Lesser black-backed gull 1.

Main lake - visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Mallard 58, Greylag 4, Shoveler 3, , Tufted 4, Mute swan 1, Common teal 10, Black-headed gull 90, Moorhen 2, Coot 2, Shelduck 1.

Wadermarsh - visible from Wadermarsh lookout and Brent Hide

Oystercatcher 290, Shelduck 1, Black-headed gull 120, Little Egret 1, Redshank 12, Lapwing 4, Hooded crow 2, Moorhen 2, Teal 1, Black-tailed godwit 5

Freshwater Lagoon - visible from Brent Hide and Crannog

Saline Lagoon - visible from Limekiln observatory
