First Common Tern chicks hatch

The Crane family (x2 chicks) are still roaming the duck marsh as viewed from the Hogarth Hide, a Green Sandpiper was also present here. Over 50 Avocet on the scrapes, lots of chicks of varying ages. A Little-ringed Plover was present but moved to the Rushy Pen. At least 30 Gadwall, dozens of Black-headed Gull chicks with parents and the usual Little and Great Crested Grebes, Cormorant and Tufted Ducks. 13 Redshank were also on the scrape.

Rushy Pen

115 Black-tailed Godwit, the Little-ringed Plover, pair of Avocets, Mediterranean Gull, 15 Gadwall and 2 Shoveler were among the highlights. A Green Sandpiper was on the lower pond.

Zeiss Hide

Singing Reed Bunting and Reed Warblers, 3 Lapwing including a juvenile, 7 Redshank and 65 Gadwall. 6+ Teal were on the Bottom New Piece. Cuckoo singing at the South Finger.

Landrover Safari

One of the three pairs of Common Tern have hatched young. We saw Brown Hawker, Emperor, 4 Spot Chaser and Common Darter dragonflies, Roe Deer, 2 Crane, Cuckoo, Buzzards, Meadow Pipits, Skylark, Oystercatchers, Curlew, 201 Shelduck and a Grass Snake.
