Recent Sightings – 24th July

The following sightings were recorded today from the reserve at Castle Espie. The weather has been changeable recently, changing the landscape of the reserve.  We have been doing some moth trapping lately with some interesting finds including heath lattice and Tinea semifulvella (pictured below).  The larvae of this species feed on the detritus of bird's nests.  We also had the spectacular display of a hummingbird hawk moth nectaring on buddleia
