A welcome drop of rain

The rain was welcome today, a chance to top up the scrapes which were drying up rapidly. At least 19 Green Sandpiper were about the various scrapes.

Zeiss Hide

Top New Piece- Green Sandpiper, 40 Avocet, 50+ Redshank +2 chicks, Greenshank, 3 Oystercatcher, 58 Dunlin, 10 Black-tailed Godwit, the juvenile Golden Plover was seen again and in the reeds below the hide there was lots of Reed Warbler activity as adults feed their juveniles. 100+ hirundines fed over the flood with three Swift.

Bottom New Piece- male Ruff and 4 Green Sandpiper.

Knott Hide

Two Green and one Common Sandpiper on the edge of the pool.

Rushy Pen

Two Grey Wagtail, three Pied Wagtail, two Teal, two Cranes, 6+ Green Sandpiper (10 seen later), 5 Black-tailed Godwit, two Oystercatcher and a Lapwing.

South Lake

The Crane family, 3 Avocet, 100 Black-tailed Godwit, 10 Redshank, male Ruff, Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, 12 Teal, 16 Shoveler, 80+ Gadwall and plenty of other waterbirds.
