Whitethroats

The hedges about the Holden Tower and Knott Hide were very busy this morning, some large counts of warblers were made with 12+ Lesser Whitethroat, 5+ Common Whitethroat, 25+ Blackcap and 40+ Chiffchaff among the highlights. The Linnet flock continues to increase as family parties join together to seek out saltmarsh seeds. A couple of Tree Pipits were also noted.

Holden Tower

A Hobby, Peregrine Falcon and Sparrowhawk were seen with a single Wheatear noted.

A Harbour Seal was seen over the tide fishing the shallows off the Dumbles.

Tack Piece

The Wood Sandpiper remains in the company of a Common and 5 Green Sandpipers. A Greenshank was also seen.

Rushy Hide

Two Little-ringed Plover, a Greenshank, 3 Wigeon and 4 Green Sandpiper.

South Lake

216 Black-tailed Godwit, 8+ Ruff, 34 Redshank, 13 Snipe, 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Greenshank, 30 Shoveler and a juvenile Yellow-legged Gull were the star birds.

Middle Point

Marsh Harrier, 47 Ringed Plover, 48 Dunlin with another distant flock of 30.
