The single Bewick's Swan was present again today feeding most of the morning in a field with Shelduck viewable from the United Utilities hide. Upto 1700 Whooper Swan are still present along with upto 2000 Pink footed Geese. Other wildfowl on the Mere at the moment include upto 1000 Shelduck, 100 Pochard, big numbers of Teal and Wigeon along with Mallard and Pintail and increasing numbers of Shoveler.

A single Oystercatcher around the Mere was a sign of the spring to come, but it was the only sign on a very windy and rainy day. Other waders included at least 3 Black tailed Godwit and c3000 Lapwing and good numbers of Ruff.

Raptors included Marsh Harrier, Peregrine, Common Buzzard and Kestrel. The Willow Tit continues to show from Janet Kear and a Brambling was seen from the hide today.
