Percut Mangrove Information Centre

Management and funding

The centre is manged by the nongovernment organisation (NGO) Yayasan Akasia Indonesia (YAI) and its volunteer groups. The mission of YAI Akasia Indonesia is to conserve natural resources through preserving species and ecosystem diversity and demonstrate that interaction between human and nature is mutualism, and also emphasise community involvement/participation.

YAI bought 20 ha of mangrove forest land to develop and dedicate as a visitor centre. The centre is in an initial development stage without specific funding by a donor agency or visitors. It needs more resources to bring it to completion to become a representative environmental education visitor centre/interpretative centre.

Founded/opened

The centre is not yet open. The initative was founded in 2006 by Akasia Indonesia volunteer groups and local communities.
