Denny, MJH, P Clausen, SM Percival, GQA Anderson, K Koffijberg & JA Robinson. 2004.

There are four recognised biogeographical populations of Branta bernicla hrota; the East Canadian High Arctic Light-bellied Brent Goose; the Western High Arctic Brent Goose; the "Atlantic Brant"; and the East Atlantic Light-bellied Brent Goose. This latter population breeds in the High Arctic, in Svalbard, east Greenland and Franz Josef Land, and winters in Denmark and at Lindisfarne, northeast England. The population, then wintering mainly in Denmark, decreased to a low of 1,600-2,000 in the years 1967-71, but has since grown slowly, to over 6,600 by 2001, around half of which regularly winter in Britain.
