Greenland White-fronted Goose

History
Started in winter 1982/83.

Aims
Assess population size and reproductive success, and identify important wintering sites.

Coverage
International (UK and Ireland).

Frequency
Annual (two counts each winter; one in the autumn and another in the spring).

Methods
A co-ordinated site-based census. Counters record the number of birds present, and the age structure of flocks, at known wintering locations.

Getting involved
Dates for the 2009/10 censuses are as follows:

Autumn international census 12-16 December 2009.
Spring international census 13-17 March 2010.

Other supplementary counts are also appreciated during 14-18 November 2009; 16-20 January 2010; 13-17 February 2010; 27 February - 3 March 2010
