Species/Populations All non-native geese Re-established Greylag Goose History The first complete survey was conducted in 1991, with a second survey in 2000. Aims Assess population size, distribution and productivity. Coverage UK Frequency Every nine years, in June and July. Methods A site-based approach is used to survey moult sites during June and July. Counters survey sites regularly monitored as part of the Wetland Bird Survey, as well as additional sites not usually surveyed for WeBS but which are known to hold naturalised or re-established geese. In the most recent survey (in 2000), counts were also conducted at a suite of randomly selected tetrads. Results The most recent survey was carried out in 2000, and the full report is available here. Getting involved A date for the next census has not been agreed at present. Further details will be announced here when they become available.
