O.K., so you may not live in the Sahara desert, but the entire world is facing a water crisis. Because water is not spread evenly around the world, some areas have too little. Billions of people worldwide cannot get hold of clean, fresh water.

So YOU may not be short of water - at least, that's what you think. Even in places like the south east of England, so many people are using so much water, that there have been shortages in recent years.
It makes sense to use water wisely - not to waste it. And there's a few simple things you can do around the house and garden. Like:
- Take a shower rather than a bath.
- Turn off the tap when you brush your teeth.
- Don't leave taps dripping.
- Remember that we are all connected to wetlands through our drains.
Whatever goes down them eventually returns to the environment. Use environmentally-friendly household products and take spent oil to a recycling depot to reduce the polluting potential of the water.
Put a brick in the cistern of your loo. This will reduce the amount of water used in every flush.
