Volunteering

Washington volunteersThe Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust is a charity and depends upon the generous support of volunteers at all its centres to help with conservation work and other daily tasks.

Here at Washington Wetland Centre, we have dozens of volunteers of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, who take part in a wide range of activities.

Some get stuck into physical work, helping us to create and maintain habitats such as ponds, lakes, reedbeds, wildflower meadows and woodlands on the wildlife reserve.

Some help look after the animals by creating and maintaining habitats, feeding our captive collection and helping out in the duckery; while others deliver our educational services or children’s events – there’s something to suit everyone!

If you’re passionate about wildlife, keen on conservation or simply want to put your spare time to good use by helping WWT, then please get in touch.

Volunteers work alongside experienced staff and other volunteers, so you’ll receive all the guidance you need. Plus, if you make a regular commitment we provide WWT clothing, training and staff discount in Waterside Cafe.
