Dormouse diary

Paul Stevens holding a dormouseArundel Wetland Centre is home to a growing population of dormice. During February half term 2009, visitors to the centre helped build and sponsor 118 dormouse houses.

Paul Stevens is the Grounds Manager at Arundel Wetland Centre, and also a licensed Dormouse handler. Paul discovered dormice on the reserve in 2008 and has since been surveying their population growth and movement. From April to October, follow him as he tracks the dormice on the reserve to uncover their very secret lives.

As part of February half term activities, 118 dormouse houses were built in preparation for the spring and summer nesting seasons by generous visitors. Paul will also be tracking their presence using these houses as an integral part of understanding where the dormice are on the reserve.
