Beaver and otter diary

WWT Martin Mere now has a whole family of beavers and otters at the Centre.

Two beavers, Twiggy and Woody, have been resident at Martin Mere since July 2007. They had 1 baby beaver that was found injured and hand reared in 2008, and Wizzy (the baby) can now be seen by visitors everyday between 12pm and 2pm as he exercises. However, it is also believed that Wizzy has potentially another 4 brothers or sisters. Follow this diary to find out how many beavers there are as the wardens will soon be cathcing them up for their annual health check. Click here for more information about the story of Wizzy the beaver.

Two Asian short-clawed otters, Ned and Thai, were released into an enclosure at Martin Mere in July 2009. Since then they have settled in and on Saturday 3 October, 4 baby otters were born. Follow their progress in this diary to see how they are growing and when you can expect to see them leave the nest.
