Wildlife sightings

March and April see us moving from winter visitors to summer migrants. Breeding birds such as Avocet and Lapwing, Oystercatcher, Redshank and Ringed Plover will be firmly established in these months.

A whole raft of birds will arrive out of Africa including early Little Ringed Plover, Sand Martin, Northern Wheatear and Chiffchaff. As the weeks progress we can expect Willow Warbler, Blackcap, White Wagtail, Swallow and House Martin.

Peregrines will continue to be active, Merlin tend to still be present and the first Marsh Harriers will arrive. If you are lucky you maybe present when the annual Osprey fly over the reserve.

During migration times we can expect less common birds to drop in including Garganey.
