Volunteering

The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust is a charity which relies on the generous support of volunteers at all its wetland centres to help with conservation work and other daily tasks. It also organises Team Activity Days for local companies and businesses giving them the chance to spend a day in the great outdoors while helping us to tackle larger projects.

As an individual...

Slimbridge has over 100 volunteers and each volunteer is a very welcome addition to the team. Without them the centre would not be able to offer the activities, events and all round excellent visitor experience that it does. Although volunteers work without financial reward there are many other ways that they benefit from becoming a WWT volunteer; learning new skills, meeting new people, keeping fit and gaining experience are just a few.

Volunteers assist staff in nearly every department of the centre so there is a wide range of opportunities available. From helping in the Duckery to leading guided walks, maintaining the grounds to recruiting new members, providing office support to getting creative with the Education team, there is something for everyone!

Some of our volunteers are able to commit to being with us full-time and we are fortunate to have an on-site hostel. However the majority of our volunteers assist on a part-time basis. All you need to do is let us know where you would like to volunteer and when you are available and we will do our best to match you with a volunteer vacancy.

A Volunteer Information and Application pack is available if you would like more details on volunteering at Slimbridge. If you would like a copy, or have any questions about volunteering, please contact our Volunteer Coordinators Kate Barker or Sarah Aspden on 01453 891137 or email kate.barker@wwt.org.uk or sarah.aspden@wwt.org.uk with your name and address.

As a company...

Let us organise a day out of the office for you and your colleagues and see your workmates in a new light. On a Team Activity Day you will join our Wardens in tackling an outdoors project. The activity will depend on the time of year, the number in the group and on how muddy you want to get but it will be a fun and rewarding day. Improve staff morale, learn new skills and help with conservation at the same time.

We can also include guided walks, use of our meeting rooms and refreshments in the package. For an information and price pack please contact our volunteer coordinator Sarah Aspden on 01453 891137 or sarah.aspden@wwt.org.uk
