Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT)

As a charity, the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust relies on the generous support of volunteers to help with conservation work and other daily tasks.

At WWT Castle Espie Wetland Centre we have volunteers aged from 16 (the minimum age) upwards working alongside and supporting staff in the various departments.

Those departments are:

  • Education
  • Marketing
  • Grounds
  • Catering, Retail and Recruitment Administration
  •

Corporate volunteering

Why not escape the office for a day to do your bit for wetland conservation via the corporate volunteering opportunities at the WWT Castle Espie Wetland Centre. We can cater for corporate volunteering days where work groups help our wardens with jobs such as planting, digging, weeding, painting etc. Please contact our Learning Manager/Volunteer Co-ordinator (see ‘Contact us’ below) for further details.

Employer supported volunteering

Some employers operate an Employer Supported Volunteering scheme whereby they give one day of paid leave to staff who contribute a day of their annual leave to a volunteering activity. To find out if your employer operates such a scheme you should contact your Human Resources Department.

Current volunteering vacancies

There are always vacancies for volunteers who would like to undertake talks and walks at the centre. You do not need to have specific bird or historical knowledge as full training will be provided. You just need to enjoy talking and interacting with people.
