Terms of entry
Visitors are asked to respect the habitats and wildlife by not causing undue noise. It is especially important to remain quiet in the bird viewing hides.
We kindly ask that bikes, scooters and ball games are not taken into the grounds.
You can buy wheat from our grain desk to feed to the birds. Please don’t feed them bread, they will eat it but it will make them poorly over time.
Photography is permitted on site providing it is for personal use only. All commercial/stock library photography must be agreed in advance with the centre and is subject to a fee.
No dogs are permitted on site, other than trained assistance dogs.
Relax in our Water’s Edge Restaurant with its spectacular view of the Caribbean flamingos. Enjoy a delicious selection of home made sandwiches, salads, hot meals and tempting cakes created with the very best, organic produce.
The Water's Edge Restaurant can also be hired in the evening for special events.
The gift shop stocks a wide range of homewares, wildlife books, outdoor clothing, bird feeders/boxes, cards, postcards and stationery, children's gifts and souvenirs of your visit to the centre.
We also sell a unique range of products featuring the artwork of WWT founder Sir Peter Scott.
Binoculars can be hired from our reception. You can also visit the In Focus shop on site if you are considering buying new equipment.
There are two rows of disabled parking spaces at WWT Slimbridge close to the main entrance ramp.
The visitor centre and grounds have been designed to be accessible. There are ramps up to all buildings in the grounds and the hides are also accessible (with the exception of the top floor of the Holden Tower). Most of the paths are tarmac based.
WWT Slimbridge has a selection of wheelchairs available for visitors including electric ones. We ask for a minimum voluntary donation of £5.00 per scooter towards the maintenance of the equipment. To ensure that you get one please ring 01453 891900 in advance of your visit.
There are six disabled toilets at WWT Slimbridge. Two of them are situated in the foyer and three of them are downstairs in the visitor centre (near the restaurant, the gallery and the discovery centre). There is also a disabled toilet near the canoe safari at the back of the grounds.
