The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a charity and depends on the generous support of volunteers at all its centres to help with conservation work and other tasks.
Here at WWT Washington, we have volunteers of all ages, abilities and walks of life, who take part in a wide range of activities. Volunteering can be very rewarding and our volunteers are a real asset to the centre that we could not survive without.
Some get stuck into physical jobs, helping us to create and maintain habitats such as ponds, lakes, reedbeds, wildflower meadows and woodlands on the wildlife reserve.
Some help look after our birds by managing habitats on Wader Lake or working at Waterfowl Nursery; while others recruit WWT members, help out with general maintenance jobs or deliver our children's events.
Volunteers work alongside experienced staff and other volunteers, so you'll receive all the guidance you need. Plus, if you make a regular commitment we can provide WWT clothing and staff discount in Waterside Cafe.

As a business
Escape the office and take part in a Corporate Team Activity Day at WWT Washington - an ideal way of supporting a local conservation charity while seeing your workmates in a whole new light!
On a Corporate Team Activity Day you will join our wardens in tackling an outdoors project. The activity will depend on the time of year, the number in the group and how muddy you're willing to get, but no matter what it will be a fun and rewarding challenge. Boost staff morale, learn valuable new skills and help the local environment at the same time.
We can include guided walks, use of our meeting rooms and refreshments in the package too. For an information and price pack, please contact marketing manager Leanne McCormella on leanne.mccormella@wwt.org.uk or 0191 419 5934.
