All day - Den building
Stroll down to Wiggly Wood, at any time during the day, where you can have your own woodland adventure building your very own den. Get creative, weaving willow (when available), or stick to rustic by using any natural materials at the site. This is a self-guided activity but there will be dens already made to give you some ideas. We'd love to see your own creations!
11am - 12pm - Minibeast hunt
Go bug hunting in our minibeast area, complete with plant pots, old rotting logs, and other dark and damp places creepy crawlies love to call home! Bring your findings back to our identification station, where you can look at them through magnifying glasses and a microscope, and use ID books and guides to find out what you’ve caught!

Join us in the observatory to use binoculars and a telescope to watch the birds. Use books and ID guides to identify them, and see how many different species you can spot! This session is suitable for adults and children of all ages. Our guide will be happy to answer any questions you have and help you become more confident in bird identification, as well as assisting young children using binoculars for the first time.
2pm – 2.30pm – Crane talk
Meet our guide at the crane pen to find out more about our iconic red-crowned cranes. Find out more about the threats to them in the wild, how we look after them and if you’re lucky you may even see their flamboyant ritual dance.
