WWT Slimbridge

Wild Winter at Slimbridge is a unique opportunity to get up close to wildlife, as up to 30,000 birds make our reserve their wintering home.

This Winter, experience 'The Slimbridge Spectacle' at WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre.

Witness huge flocks of wild lapwing, curlew and golden plover, hundreds of ducks, geese and swans at wild bird feeds - including the majestic and endangered 'Bewicks Swan'. There's plenty to do for people of all ages.

With our beautiful grounds and rugged reserve, we have 13 hides to choose from, including a family friendly hide with an expert guide to help everyone see what’s happening. We also offer a range of additional events, such as Guided Bird Watching Mornings, Photography Workshops out on the reserve, daily Wild Bird Feeds and so much more!

New for winter 2016 we have our recently opened Kingfisher Kitchen. A relaxing and stylish new eating venue, ideal for a morning coffee with cake, a lunchtime meal or afternoon snack. It’s definitely worth a visit, with close up views of our Caribbean Flamingo flock from the panoramic windows.  Alternatively experience the magic of a floodlit evening feed on Swan Lake before enjoying a delicious meal in the Kingfisher Kitchen, at one of our unique Swan Suppers, only available on a handful of dates in December and January.

From birdwatchers to families there is plenty to discover throughout the winter months and an amazing opportunity to see wildlife in abundance. With experiences to suit all ages offering access to a huge variety of wildlife, it is no surprise we are an award-winning day out and the avian serengeti of the South West!
