New arrivals herald the start of spring at Slimbridge

It’s all go at Slimbridge as the winter birds quickly exit and the summer crowd arrive!

After a mass exodus of 10,000 winter birds, including the Bewick’s swans, new birds are arriving and looking for nest sites.

Among these were 24 avocets, a recent success story at WWT Slimbridge, and the rather attractive Little Egret.

Elsewhere the cranes demand attention with their dancing displays and calls, but will eggs follow shortly?
